Antique: Richard Geiger
Oil on canvas. Richard Geiger (1870 Vienna - 1945), Richard Geiger was born in Vienna and first studied at the Vienna Art Institute with the academic painter Christian Ludwig Von Griepenkerl and, subsequently, in Paris with Francois Flameng. From Griepenkerl, Geiger learned the rigorous application of anatomical principles, and, from Flameng, he derived his use of a saturated palette combined with a lyrical and bravura brushwork. After 1893, Geiger lived in Budapest where he specialized in figural and genre painting. He was also an accomplished graphic artist and printmaker. Throughout a long career, Geiger exhibited with success in France, Germany and Hungary. Dimensions with the frame: width: 760 mm, height: 640 mm
