The chair and the associated armchair were designed by Vlastislav Hofman as part of the interior for sculptor Josef Mařatka. Their seemingly austere appearance is softened by the careful details of the chamfered surfaces on the edges of the legs and the triangular veneers on all surfaces. These licensed originals from our workshop can be seen, for example, in the renovated wedding hall of the Old Town Hall in Prague, in the restaurant in the Augustin Hotel on the Lesser Town and have recently become very popular on the Asian market. The frame is made of slatwood, veneered with stained oak veneer, leather from the Danish company Sorensen leather in the shade Legacy Espresso. This is a reproduction of the original stored in the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague, a later original replica of this chair can also be seen in the Moravian Gallery in Brno.

Vlastislav Hofman (1884–1964)

Paintings, designs for architecture, furniture and applied arts, posters for theatre plays, scenographic works, costumes and theoretical essays - we can look at Vlastislav Hofman as a versatile Renaissance personality, and his work as a work full of invention and intellectual overlap.
