Modernista now offers a unique wooden kit. This set of blocks, newly manufactured by French toy company Vilac, was designed by Czech toy designer and educator Ladislav Sutnar in the 1940s. Children can build and endlessly configure the colourful industrial city with 25 blocks, chimneys and cars from the Factory Town set. The original design is represented in MoMA's collection and was featured in the museum's 2012 exhibition Century of the Child: Growing by Design, 1900-2000. Ages 2+. Made of MDF, solid wood and plywood. Packaged in a wooden box.
Ladislav Sutnar (1897-1976)
His work spans all areas of modern lifestyle. He is one of the main figures of Czech interwar modernism. He significantly influenced the development of applied design also in America, where he lived and worked from 1939.
