Studies: Academy of Fine Arts in Prague from 1823 by Prof. Josef Bergler, from 1827 by Prof. Frantisek Waldherr.

He worked as an inspector of the Picture Gallery of the Society of Patriotic Friends of Art, teacher of engraving at the C. K. Royal State Polytechnic Institute, and privately taught drawing in old aristocratic families. He was also an art critic for the magazine Bohemie.
